  • Fireworks orginated in China around 2000 years ago.

  • Fireworks were first used in England at a royal wedding over 500 years ago.

  • Guy Fawkes unsuccessfully plotted to blow up the Houses of Parliament to kill king James I.  This is known as the Gunpowder Plot

  • Bonfire night is now an annual tradition in the UK on the 5th November to commemorate how the Gunpowder plot was foiled.
 
  • The largest ever firework display has 810,904 fireworks in it.
 
  • Firework displays are used in many celebrations including weddings and to celebrate the start of a New Year.
