To be classed as living an organism must be able to do seven things: move, respire, show sensitivity, grow, have babies, get rid of waste and take in nutrients.

There are five main habitat types in the world: aquatic, desert, forest, grassland and tundra.

Cockroaches are really important in a habitat because they eat dead plants and recycle the nutrients back into the soil which helps plants grow.

A food chain often begins with a plant because they are able to make their own food.

Because plants need the sun to make their own food, life could not exist if the sun disappeared.
