  • The first man went into space in 1961 and the first human to walk on the moon was in 1969.

  • Coco Pops were launched in 1961. Ice lollies and choc ices on sticks became very popular during the 1960s.

  • The human heart beats 3 billion times during an average lifetime.

  • An average size adult carries 5 litres of blood.

  • If you were to lay out all of the arteries, capillaries and veins in one adult, end-to-end, they would stretch about 60,000 miles (100,000 kilometres).

  • It takes 20 seconds for blood to circulate the entire body. Oxygenated blood leaves the aorta at about 1 mile an hour.

  • What do you think the future will look like in 10 years?  20?  50?  100 years?  Draw or write about what you think the future will hold. 

  • The future can be scary - keep a diary or journal of your thoughts and feelings about the future.  Keep it safe and then look back on it in the future.  Will things turn out the way you expect?  Remember you can talk to a trusted friend, family member or adult if the future makes you very worried.

  • Create a time capsule filled with items that represent your life in 2019.  With permission from an adult, find somewhere suitable to bury or keep it for the children of the future to find.
