The children will be learning among other things:
- practising reading and spelling CVCC (consonant, vowel, consonant, consonant words) such as, bump, nest, belt, milk.
- practising reading and spelling high frequency words
- practise reading and writing sentences
- learning more tricky words like the ones in the video above.
Parents - can you dictate these sentences to your children? First show them the picture that goes with the sentence - this will help them to understand and visualise what they are writing. Remember to count all the words in the sentence with them using your fingers to represent each word. Then read the first word reminding them to leave a finger space after each word, then continue to the end of the sentence. Remind the children to put a full stop to show that it is the end of the sentence. Then ask your child to read the sentence to you - help if they are struggling. The words do not have to be spelt correctly as long as the children have used their phonics that is fine.

A message for mums, dads, grandparents, aunties and uncles
Thank you so much for all your support - we have loved seeing the photographs and videos you have sent to us. Keep it up we have got a couple of weeks left in school and it's important to keep going right until the summer holidays!! Please remember to allow the children to complete the work by themselves (you can give them a little help if they are really struggling) as we would be promoting more independent learning at this time of the year. This will help them to prepare for the next stage of their education in Year 1.
We are looking forward to seeing you for a visit soon!
Thank you again from all the EYFS team!
This is a new song, see if you can join in using sign language!
